The CSV Hub is very excited to launch an exciting new campaign – Rethinking Short-Term Missions – in partnership with ACCI Relief.
With the pause in travel due to COVID, ACCIR and the CSV Hub saw an opportunity to run a campaign about short-term missions trips. We believe there is a natural openness for sending organisations and volunteers to go through a reflective process as they think through missions programs in a post-COVID world. The goal of the Rethinking Short-Term Missions campaign is to encourage this process and to reflect on past programs before re-developing more ethical and child safe programs.
The CSV Hub and ACCIR consulted with Christian leaders in 5 receiving countries around the globe and we have used their valuable insights and experience to develop this campaign. A campaign video featuring these leaders discusses how missions trips can do better in the future and avoid unintentional negative impacts on children and communities.
The campaign has 3 call to action points:
1. Reflect on past programs
2. Listen to host communities
3. Create ethical missions programs
“I believe the first step is to come together and listen to each other. Those who are sending and also the host community. I believe there is great synergy so to speak if we can come together and provide a platform for us to listen to each other.”
