Fiji introduces Volunteer Visa
In Fiji the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has recently introduced a volunteer visa as tourist visas did not identify tourists who then engaged in volunteering. Staff at the Ministry had conducted a survey on tourists departing Fiji and found that on departure the number of people identifying as volunteers, rather than tourists, had risen from 2000 in 2014 to 6000 in 2015.
The Ministry explained the volunteer visa will provide them with greater visibility over this type of tourism movement and sharing of information across government departments on volunteer/tourist movement.
